Volunteer Opportunities

The School Day

School begins with Morning Prayer. Students have classes in Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Religion, Physical Education, Library and Technology. Children who need help in various subjects are paired with a tutor who works with them weekly to offer assistance and support. The homeroom teachers provide the volunteer with the subject matter and workbook materials.

Lunch Program

The children at Hope Rural School receive breakfast and lunch daily. Volunteers are needed to help serve at lunchtime (11:15.-12:00). Since it is such a short time, we encourage our volunteers to come from a near-by area, such as our friends at Indianwood.

Library

The library at Hope Rural School has grown from a small beginning with 40 books to over 8,433.

Volunteers are needed to help with cataloging, repairing, sorting, and making space for new books and videos.

After Care Program

Hope Rural School offers an After-Care Program on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:45 P.M. – 4:30 P.M. During these hours the children do homework, and participate in extracurricular activities such as art and physical education.

Volunteers are needed from 3:15-4:15 to provide homework support; special skills such as public speaking, drama, music, and dance are welcomed and encouraged.

Development / Outreach / Special Projects

Hope Rural School is dependent upon scholarships, foundations, corporations, and various organizations to support the annual operating budget.

Volunteers are needed to help with fundraising activities, mailings, clerical support, and occasional sorting of clothing, etc.

Adult Education Program

Hope Rural School offers an Adult Education Program for the parents of our students.
